The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a response to a story shared by Fox Cricket on social media, in which they expressed disappointment with the organization for not ignoring the baseless allegations.
PCB Response
The story in question made serious accusations against Babar Azam, the Pakistani cricket team's captain, including sending lewd messages to his girlfriend and engaging in sexual activity.
The PCB stated that Fox Cricket is a media partner and
should have refrained from sharing such unfounded allegations without first
verifying the information with Babar Azam or the PCB. The organization also
mentioned that Babar Azam has not yet responded to the allegations. In response
to the PCB's statement, Fox Cricket deleted the tweet, but the news article is
still available on their website.
In addition, the PCB further stated that these kinds of
unverified and false allegations not only harm the reputation of the individual
but also that of the organization and the sport as a whole. It's also important
to mention that spreading false information or unverified news is unethical and
illegal in some countries.
They urged media partners and all stakeholders to be
responsible and refrain from sharing unverified information, especially on
sensitive matters that can cause harm to the reputation of an individual or an
organization.
Furthermore, PCB also stated that they will take legal
action against any individual or organization that continues to spread false
and unverified information about Babar Azam or any other PCB official. The PCB
is committed to protecting the rights and reputation of its players and
officials, and it will not tolerate any attempts to damage their image.
